Save-the-date and call for sessions for TERRAenVISION 4 (Valencia 8-11 July 2024) + pre and post conference tours (6-7 and 12-13 July 2024)
Fourth edition will be held in Valencia from 8-11th of July; hosted by the University of Valencia. The conference will be 3 indoor days with inspiring keynotes, scientific talks and posters and interactive workshops to engage with people that are all working on topics related to the theme of our conference: ‘Nature-Based Solutions to facilitate the transition for living within the Planetary Boundaries’.
In addition to the 4 days of the conference there is also the possibility to join the pre- and/or post-conference excursions ((6-7 July and 12-13 July). On the website (that will be launched shortly) more information will be given.
TERRAenVISION conference is framed around themes related to the main topic of the conference of this year: ‘Nature-Based Solutions to facilitate the transition for living within the Planetary Boundaries’.
They five themes we have this year for our conference are:
- Nature-based solutions for agriculture and natural areas (soil, water and landscape)
- Nature-based solutions for natural hazards (Fire, Floods and Droughts)
- Nature-based solutions for urban and industrial areas (soil, water and spatial planning)
- Methodologies: how to measure processes and impact of Nature-based solutions
- Science brokers for transitioning to a climate resilient and circular society
Each theme is kicked off by two plenary keynote speeches of 20 min, followed by a discussion. After the plenary session, various parallel sessions will be organized.
CALL FOR PAPERS OPEN TILL 30 DECEMBER
The conference INTERPRAEVENT is the professional congress in the field of preventive protection against natural disasters..
2024 the international conference will be held for the ninth time in Austria and for the first time in Vienna.
The INTERPRAEVENT 2024 takes place from 10 – 13 June 2024 at the Conference Center Hofburg Vienna. You are kindly invited to submit a paper that addresses the theme of the INTERPRAEVENT 2024.
Natural hazard processes
The main focus of the conference is on the folllowing natural hazard processes
- debris flows
- floods (fluvial and pluvial)
- forest fires
- landslides (including rockfall)
- snow avalanches
Special attention is paid to the effects caused by climate change, for example extreme weather events, heatwaves and droughts or heavy precipitation on the natural hazard processes.
Furthermore, the following topics related to the natural hazard processes will be considered: glacier and permafrost related risks, erosion and sediment related disasters, cascading events, storm events and protective function of forests.
The INTERPRAEVENT 2024 will be organized as a scientific-technical conference with six thematic sessions:
- Climate Change: Drivers, Triggers and Consequences
- Risk Governance, Policies and Resilience
- From Observations and Experiments to Modelling and Simulations
- Hazard and Risk Assessment
- Structural and Non-Structural Mitigation Measures
- Emergency Management and Recovery
Global warming and its massive impact on extreme natural disasters is one of the main challenges of our era. Traditional concepts of hazard prevention or disaster management are no longer sufficient in the present, global climatic change requires sustainable social adaptation processes for the protective system. The conference INTERPRAEVENT 2024 is addressing this issue under the overall theme:
“Natural hazards in a changing climate –
How to manage risks under global warming?”.
Call for Student Award
The submission for the Student Award is open from 1 June until 1 November 2023.
