This newsletter is dedicated to the solid transportation in rivers. What important role do eroded, transported and deposited solids play in flood events: bedload and solids are of crucial importance, and not only with regard to flood protection and weather damage. They shape the appearance (morphology) and dynamics of our waterways and enable biodiversity. Competent management of solids issues in the planning and implementation of water development projects is therefore of vital importance for us humans and for other inhabitants of aquatic habitats.
