Three candidates were nominated   among the most representative international experts in the field of Soil and Water Bioengineering, who, in the course of their respective activities, have made a significant contribution to the studies of the this discipline  sector worldwide.

Albert Sorolla Edo:  Biologist, President of the Spanish Association of Soil and Water Bioengineering ( AEIP ) and Vice President of ESWEG – European Soil & Water Erosion Group, as well as Technical Director of Naturalea. Author of numerous projects for the renaturation of water courses and Soil and Water Bioengineering in rivers and slopes and as a teacher in various courses and seminars

 Riccardo Santolini: Biologist, Professor of Ecology at the Universities of Urbino, Bologna and Siena; University researcher at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Urbino; Consultant to public administration  (including the Ministry of the Environment and the Ministry of Agricultural and Forest Policies), President of the Italian Society of Landscape Ecology (Siep-Iale) until 2015; President of the Emilia-Romagna Section of the Italian Association of Natural Engineering since 1995 and author of more than 200 scientific publications mainly in the field of Ecological Networks, Ecosystem Services and Landscape Ecology.

Cesare Crocetti: Land and Environment Engineer; Technical manager of the naturalistic engineering sector in the Gran Sasso and Monti dellaLaga National Park; and middle mountain coach (Alpine Guide College, Abruzzo region); Teacher at numerous Soil and Water Bioenginering  training courses UNIFI collaborator in projects on the use of SWB in Colombia and Burundi; Lecturer in university seminars and Contracted Professor of “Environmental Design and SWB” (University of Rome La Sapienza and UNITUS Viterbo); AIPIN expert partner; Author of publications in the field.
